I thought there was a long post touching the cables together sequence.
like start car, idle 2m
put in drive, foot on break x mins
then go drive x miles
to recalibrate everything.
i know i saw a link but can’t for the life of me find it.

I'm teetering between my insane level of integrity and candor, and being still on the fence.
Was going to text him the hard reset steps. See if it cleared all the codes.
Still may. The top not working which turned out to be just a safety feature I didn't know about and all the codes I posted in the "Unicorn" thread are the main reasons I walked.
But I'm struggling with telling him how to fix the code issues or at least see if they are legit or because they started the car weekly but never drove it.
Having no mechanical issues would easily fetch him 2k more.

The REASON you disconnect the battery leads, then touch them - is to clear all the capacitance in the system. There are other ways of getting it done too.

The codes don't concern me much, lots of reasons for them, battery, sitting, not running, not driving, etc. Cars don't like that. But you described the interior as rough which I reckon could get expensive if done right and you mentioned the paint might be in poor condition (common with red paint) that paint correction cant fix. Also keep in mind PDR on alloy's different than steel, not all can do it correctly AND these cars have multiple glued layers of sheet metal which make it difficult to impossible;e to repair with PDR.
