I primarily use streaming audio for music, but occasionally listen to the radio. Every time I do, I notice the HD radio is turned off in the settings. I have to go into audio settings and manually turn it on again, and the HD radio stations tune in and sound fine. The quality is not as good as a new vehicle, but it works.

Occasionally, when I manually turn the HD radio setting on, it will turn itself off immediately. I'm guessing something is wrong with the module, but I'm not sure. I cannot remember a time when I switched to the radio, and the HD stations tuned in without me needing to turn it on in settings first.

I'm guessing the module is not talking to the CAN system during startup checks, so it turns itself off in the settings. By the time the car is running, the module is operational again and I can turn it on.

This isn't a typical module failure, so I'm not confident in the root cause being a bad module. Before I start replacing things, I wanted to see if any other forum members have experienced this, and what they did to fix it permanently.

I wanted to bump this thread... Forgot I posted it. My HD radio has changed from intermittent to completely stopped working. As soon as I turn it on in the audio settings, it turns itself off.

Anyone know what module controls the HD radio? Is it the part below?

I believe it's this: C2P26033 or 7W93-19C034-AE



Or this: C2P2761 or 6W83-19C061-AB

 

This is fixed by replacing 7W93-19C034-AE. This is a generic Ford radio tuner part number, though I found one on eBay from a 2015 XK for $25. No programming was needed.

HD Radio was already enabled when I started the car after testing, and HD stations tuned in with great clarity.
