Headlight disassembly & re-assembly
My headlights are showing signs of fogginess on the projection lens. Looking through previous threads I see it is possible to take the headlight assembly apart to allow the lens to be removed for cleaning but when it comes to re-sealing there is an ominous silence. Just "re-assemble using the old sealant" or words to that effect. Has anyone actually done this job, was the re-sealing job straight forward, does it need warming and more to the point, is it waterproof? I am reluctant to start this job before knowing the pitfalls.
The reassembled units do need to be baked again to reseal. Before re-baking though, both parts need to be inspected for gaps, and any gaps would require a bit of extra goo placed. During disassembly after removal from baking, let the pieces cool immediately after pulling them apart so goo doesn't get everywhere.
At over 3 grand a light I'd be wary of baking my lights.

That's a pretty good instruction link though. I'd not do the heat gun thing, they get REALLY hot. It'd be easy to glaze a lens or melt a piece.

I found this on Youtube.
The same channel has a lot of other stuff too including re-sealing: .
. Ideally I would find a local business similar to the one in the videos to do this for me as I don't want to risk damaging the units but we'll see as I doubt there is one anywhere in Spain. I'm slightly nervous of doing it myself, particularly if McJag is right about the price..
baking is fine Ive had mine apart to repair the wiring. In terms of them being foggy, there is no need to separate the lense from the housing. Have a body shop sand them down, re-clear and bake in the booth ..Itll last anywhere from 5 to 10 years, depending on the climate and storage of your vehicle

I think we are at cross purposes with the term "lens." The things that are foggy are the projector lenses associated with the HID bulbs, not the front outside component of the whole light which I know is also called a lens. If you have any ideas on that I'd be pleased to hear them.

Can clearly see how 'foggy' the projector lens is here
Use a lint-free cloth; the build up comes off extremely easily.
The end product
If it’s just the inside of the projector lens that is foggy, I think @Cee Jay in a different thread said he had used long swabs to reach in there through the bulb hole to clean it without disassembling the housing.
