Headlight Unit Not Working
Alright guys, I’m done troubleshooting my passenger headlight unit. Ballast, control unit and every bulb including harness has been inspected to no avail.
Can I just replace it with a non adaptive unit for the sake of having lights that work at night? Will they look different aside from each other aside for the cool adaptive movement at startup and such?
The wiring is current unit is brittle as hell too - I’m done with it!

Just found your question and would suggest that you check the earth connection on the same side as the faulty light. The earth connection is via an aluminium post pressed into the body during manufacture. I had a similar fault as yours on a UK car, right hand drive. The faulty lamp on this occasion was the right hand headlamp. I was told to check the earth connection which is in the wheel arch. I looked at the earth through the wheel and it looked fine but as soon as I touched it the post fell off. I removed the post from the eyelet on the end of the cable and found a bolt nearby that the wire could reach. Some paint was removed to expose some bare metal and the wire bolted in place. The headlight came back to life instantly.
Good luck

Remove the front wheel behind the faulty light. Look for the earth wire and terminal post on the outside of the engine bay, I think from memory the wires are black and on my car there were two. They are connected to a post, grab the post to see if it's firm. Mine just fell off as soon as I touched it. If the wires come loose find another earth point. you may need a continuity tester to confirm the earth connection. I found a hole in a steel bracket that showed earth continuity, so I just bolted my wires to that bracket.
I hope this helps.

Alright Jag Fam - We have Lights!!!
Here was the problem: Water got into the unit including the connector to the ballast. I replaced it but turns it the replacement was faulty. I couldn’t see myself forking out 1500+ for a new unit so I returned the ballast and received another new unit. Blew air into the entire unit and vacuumed it as well since there were little pieces of wire insulation all over the place (brittle wiring). Used plenty of electrical tape to ensure no exposed wiring touched. Popped on the new ballast and Voila!!!
Im going to get the headlight refinished and resealed someday but for now I’ll probably just smoke both headlight and tail lights using film (not spray) until I’m ready for it.
Anyways, earth connectors are all good, intact and secured - so happy I can ride into the night once again! Cheers!

I hope you mean liquid tape as other members have successfully done. Actual tape won’t last with the heat inside.

I used reg electric tape but I’ll look I to the liquid version now that you mentioned it. Thanks!
