2009 XKR - headliner fabric starting to droop - dealer price around $1075 taxes in for the liner.
Part # they quoted C2P15021PVJ which is charcoal whereas mine is off white/ivory.
Parts guy emailed me back and said the liner had an XKR-S bagge on it.
If thats all they can get hold of I guess with having a black leather interior it
charcoal won't look to bad.
Phoned service dept - they said they can't do the job cause they have to
remove the windshiled. I have seen threads around which I can't
find but I never noticed any mention of a windshield removal to
do the headliner - anyone know for sure if it has to be removed?
This looked promising but freight charge according to the seller was
around 500-600 Brit pounds - sounds really high to me for shipping
to Canada:
BS. You dont have to remove the windshield. Member Tberg is the man with the material. He can send you the materials (offwhite/ivory) and have a local guy do the job. Wife just had hers redone and it was $650 for everything (not including recovering the posts). If they want to be super careful, like Kizik said, you can remove the rear quarter glass with one bolt and 5 minutes work. The bolt his hidden under the rubber door trim and the rear quarter assembly just slides forward.

Thanks, removing the rear quarter glass sounds like the way to go. I remember some of Tberg's posts and maybe a thread, but trying to find them is proving frustrating. Stil
waiting for the Jag guys to source out a liner. If not I may go with an upolstery shop doing a repair for the liner.
Member Big Otter gives a good explanation in Post 17, looking at the pic
in post #2 I'm thinking the charcoal liner from the Jag dealer might look
quite "spiffy":
I've replaced mine without removing ANY windows. All 6 pillar trims and 2 visors must be removed first then it's quite easy. There's a clip at the rear centre of the liner.

Same here. Once the above was removed I got it out the passenger side door. Took me 20-30 minutes.
I bought material from TBERG, but an upholstery shop told me I shouldn't use it because it didn't have the right backing for a headliner (not headliner material) so it wouldn't look quite right and would sag faster. Old timer who I have no reason to believe was trying to up-sell me on material. I'm not sure if other people have run into this.
In any case, at this point I just found something in a book they ordered for me and got a day or two later with a slightly different shade. You can tell the difference if you specifically inspect the seams but definitely not noticeable. I think it was about $150 labor plus $20-$30 for the material.
i removed all the trim myself, removed the headliner and prepped it about 90% of the way, took it to a random upholstery guy who did a great job for $140, then reassembled everything. didn't touch any glass.
I was lucky enough to finally find a shop that was willing to use my original material. He refoamed the headliner and actually took apart the sun visors and refoamed them as well. He took apart all 6 trim pieces including the rear 2 over the rear seats (which were a pain as the seats had to come out) and reglued all the trim pieces with the original material as well. Remember the back 2 pieces have double stitching. Everything ended up matching as well as getting my sunvisors recovered (which no shop seems to want to touch). Other than a few imperfectiongs (where I pinned the headliner when it was falling down) the job was a good one. Trying to match our.interiors is a difficult task.. Hopefully, I'll get another 8 years before the foam falls apart (although the installer said it was better foam).

My headliner material is in good shape - I think it will peal off easily and re-used in the way your guy did. The plllars look ok.
Thanks all for the feedback - makes the job seem much less complicated.

Assuming this was a Jag dealer service guy --- why does anyone do business with these guys? Another example of a blatant ripoff by the Dealer. And L500 to ship? Maybe to Antarctica, but cripes.
Next they'll say they have to remove the engine to replace the spark plugs.
I reckon it was the victim of dimensional weighting not actual weight from the UK to Canada. It’s a pretty large box 😒.
Ya, that's what she said "dimensional weight" I sent her a link to a seller on Ebay in the UK that had shipping for an older model Jag headliner - the price was 98 GBP
via global shipping to Canada. She replied she couldnt ship to France for that amount.
You do not need to remove any glass. It comes out through the passenger door. Remove all the pillars to get it down first.
My wife and I did ours. We don't mind the projects if we have time. We even did the rear shelf.
Update - I ordered the XKR-S ebony Alcantara headliner - cost $953.93 including tax (with a discount). Took around 3 hours to do with
help from a buddy holding the headliner in place to fit the sun visor clips in place. The hardest thing was to get the two clips to release from
the front pillars holding the trim- clips below (color is not blue - my camera does weird stuff sometimes) - I had to use a 90 degree bent pic to pull them
out of the frame, second pic shows location. I like the way the manual says just "remove the clips". I didn't need to remove the rear quarter
window.
Front window pillar - not a great pic for location of one of the two clips. I did not remove the pillar trim. just left it loose to allow me to
wiggle the side trim out.
Before brushing the Alcantara - I used felt to smooth it out for the second pic.
After brushing and back home:
The plan is to redo the old headliner with the old material after removing the old degraded foam backing for the next time this new one fails.
