Default From Heaven to Hell....and back.

Well 2 Months into my ownership of an 09 Black XKR I took her out on a Road Trip of a life time. Up the California Coast from LA to Monterey, 3 days at the ALMS at Laguan Seca (even got to watch the XKR GT2 race). Monterey to San Francisco to Reno to Lake Tahoe to Mammoth Mountain.

The Jag never missed a beat, what a dream machine to drive on all those Roads. I had weather of every description from sunshine, to snow, to fog and heavy rain yet the car remained ever powerful and confident in all conditions.

I was in Heaven.......until I parked the Jag undercover at my Hotel in Mammoth Mountain. When I went to get the car in the morning after only one night parked, I was horrified to find the car covered in lime scale which had dripped through the Garage roof from the Mountain side.

Not being a big believer in "Park at own risk" and after photo documenting the whole scene like I was in CSI, I had a conversation with the Hotel Manager explaining the courses of action I felt I had open to me.

litigation is a dirty word, but accurate, so with those words echoing around the Mountain side I cut my vacation short and made the 320 mile drive back to LA in 5 hours to get to my detailer.

Default All's well that ends well.

Eddie Borgwardt at Startronics in Santa Monica is a Hero! I met this guy only 2 days before setting out on my trip getting my windows tinted, I was aware of all the detailing services and quality of work on high end vehicles Eddie had performed.

After driving the 300 some odd miles from Mammoth Mountain to Eddie's he gave me a quote to fix the Jag and make her all pretty again. I rang the quote through to the Hotel and they immediately agreed to pay the full cost.

Here are the results after a full day at Startronics:

Well done to Eddie, that looked horrible. Seems that the hotel has a bigger issue than just paying to put your car right, if the roof is leeching as bad as that.
