Default Help finding a part: Black "Jaguar" strip between tail lights?

Hey all,

I plasti-dipped (in black) the chromed piece that says 'J A G U A R' across the back of the car, between the tail lights, and agreed with those here who suggested this visual mod that it had the desired effect of making the rear of the car look way wider. Somehow the short chrome piece pulls the eyes away from the extremes of the back of the car and robs the car of some of the menace (for the coupe anyway).

Alas, unlike my rims (still happily plasti-dipped), the 'chromed' plastic bit is more resistant to paint (or 'dip) sticking, and it started to bubble off, so I removed it & she's back to stock again, not looking as cool.

Leading me to wonder if Jaguar makes that part in black for those with the Black Package. If so, I'd rather replace the part with a nice gloss black factory part than paint the stock chromed plastic.

Anyone go this route or know of a part # and price? My local dealership was of no help...

Thanks!

Most likely if the dip started to bubble, you have either an oil based or silicone based contaminant on the chrome. Suggest that you get some paint thinner or mineral spirits to wipe it down. Buff with microfiber towel, then wipe with 70% isopropyl alcohol, (Walgreens carries it $1.99 per bottle) to get the surface clean from any residue of the chemical. Then the plasti-dip should have no problems sticking to the chrome strip.

I am not sure about the black strip stock from Jaguar or where to find it in the aftermarket. Yo may want to try another round of plasti-dip spray.

My IPB only goes to 2010, so no luck for you there.

I see a "Paint to match" number which is the same as the "aluminum" number
C2P10414MEG

You could use the carbon fibre one from the GT

C2P24169 with rear camera or C2P24170 without.

The other numbers I can find for the primer painted trunk lid finisher are:

To VIN B44939:
C2P21116XXX, for the Black or Speed pack

From VIN B44940:
C2P22036XXX with rear camera, C2P22037XXX without.

By the way, Black Pack trim isn't gloss, it's semi-gloss - at least, that's the case on mine.

I was hoping it was gloss black I was going to replace my grill surround because its painted gloss black over chrome, so rock chips are super bright.

It doesn't look 'wrong' in semi-gloss, not to me anyway, but then my car isn't black. Next time you're near a dealer, see if you can get a look at a Black Pack car & decide for yourself.

I'm sure it looks good its just that the rest of my trim is gloss black. Sorry if I wasn't clear, I completely forgot to mention it.

You could buy the Aluminum version and anodize it. Plasti dip while cheap also looks very cheap in my opinion. I would do it the right way, ...either a quality paint, powder coat, or anodize

Ahhh, understood - in that case, I think you're going to have to invest in black retouch paint.

Alternatively, get the Black Pack grille & get it painted gloss - the paint may adhere better to the slightly textured surface, and if it does chip, it will just show the black underneath.
