Default Hit undercarriage on a hump

Was driving over a raised hump in a carpark when the under side of my xkr took a knock. A thump sound was heard but I couldn't see any dents after that. Should I be concerned?

Sadly, not owning an XKR, my offering is just a guess. More often than not, you simply hit the exhaust, and it "thumped" against the undercarriage.

A closer inspection on a rack might be warranted if you think it was loud enough.

Remember you have an Aluminum body which will attenuate the sound differently to a steel one (much louder!). However still need to check all underside components for damage.

Good luck, Adrian

I cut into a shopping center with a defective ramp and the car SLAMMED into a raised section of pavement. Hard. Make so much noise the that cashiers came out (two car guys who were drooling over the XKR) and told me who to send the bill to if there was damage, that they'd testify that I came in normally and that various low slung cars were bottoming out like mine did, but not as loud or hard.

Luckily I could see no damage other than preexisting scrapes to the plastic fairings under the car... Dealer found no dent or misalignment either, so these things are built tougher than you'd think. I'm guessing you'll be ok, because I hit REALLY hard and took no damage.

Best,

Skeeter

Woah! Your accident sounded much worse... But its at least some comfort for me to know the car's THAT tough!

Cheers!

Mike.
