XKR production is now stopped, Vantage is too small and slow, DB9 is also lacking in power, F-Type is too small, 911 is too boring as is everything else that's German. The only car I can think of would be a Maserati Gran Turismo that comes close to the XKR! Not that I'm looking to change anytime soon. Anyone else think that Jaguar have made a mistake by not making another GT car? In my opinion the choice is small at the minute and Jag have showed for years how much of a good job at making them they can do!

Well, the sun is shining here today for a change so I am taking the XKR out for a drive. First time for a few weeks. It's one thing we are still allowed to do during the Corona lockdown we're experiencing in the UK right now (everything is closed now other than food shops, pharmacies and, thankfully, gas stations). While I am enjoying the drive I will give thought to what other car, for the same sort of outlay, could give me nearly as much pleasure.....

How does the XKRS compare to the XKR?

the xkrs is just a little bit better in every way, from the styling to the performance. a bit more aggressive on the styling side, and 40 more horsepower under the hood.

Do you notice a handling improvement? Does it still feel like an XKR, or like it's a different set up?

Hey, maybe we should combine THIS thread into all the recent threads of "My XK/R got destroyed".

Also, it would seem that most of those people want to STAY in the XK/R family......

It seems many of us aren't really "ready" to move on from an XK/R. At least i know i wouldn't be by way of a total loss. This is honestly one of the few cars I'd take total loss money and my money and just try to get the best example of what i already had.

Definitely like the idea of at least cross posting to here or maybe combining wth the destruction threads!

People say "Ugh" when the GT Speed is brought up, but that's a LOT of car for not a lot, due to massive depreciation.
Granted, they don't have the 'wow' type of styling, but this would do when I get a decade or two older...

I love these cars. Won't be long and even I could afford one.

Bucket loads of torque a first class interior and immense road presence what more not to like however as cee jay suggested not for a decade or however something like the gt3r is definitely more for the younger generation

As great a car as it is it doesn't fit into the style of car that I like. To me it falls into a nicely designed family sedan. Similar to some Audi's or MB's but something I wouldn't buy as my fun cruiser. It's all in what you are looking for so if you like the style and can afford it then go for it.

I honestly hope Jaguar creates a new GT sports car before my current XK needs to be replaced! Fingers crossed!

But in all honesty, I will just keep adding to the collection!! lol

I've been seriously Jonesing for either a new(ish) Vanquish or a DB11 the last few weeks, and have watched many a video and they all made me want one even more.
Until.................................
I watched some video on Vanquish vs XKR. It was a (sshhhhhh) street duel between the two, with several pulls recorded. They were very even on all counts.
BUT;
During the last video segment, the Vanquish driver said very quietly, and probably to himself.... "what is IN that thing??!!??".
So now, I'm not too sure I need/want/should blow $100k just to have a newer, "cooler" car.

@Cee Jay , share the link?
The problem with this isolation situation is that my mind wanders too... at least your wandering is constructive ;-)
XKR (and XJR) for that matter are cool. As are the Astons. Maybe you just need both.

Guy, I looked at so many of those videos, I'd have to dig for which one it was. Mind you, I'll give it a shot, but it may be lost in the multiplicity.

Which Aston's have you had a chance to drive? The V12's are just really special cars. Well, they all are.

Nothing in a couple years, and that was a buddy's older V8 Vantage. Not only because this stupid virus junk, but also because I'm in the middle of nowhere and the closest one for sale is like 700 miles from me. 1400 round trip isn't worth it for me.
Maybe once this crap is over I'll take a long trip and try several.
