It was like that with the E-type, only it was world wide, with two other huge factors, in performance it blew the doors off everything else on the road- even the SL, so it was a no-comprise car. And it was a descendant of Jaguars that were winning back-to-back race victories at the time. In my opinion, the only other car that had similar effect was the one you owned and sent me a picture of. Sans the global availability.
And, of course, the E-Type was so much cheaper than the (so-called) competition too! The E-Type is the only car I can think of that everybody in the world seems to have heard of, even those who have little or no interest in cars. I think that at one time or another everyone who *is* interested in cars dreamed of owning an E-Type. I can still remember seeing my first, in the metal - where I was, who I was with, the colour of the car (red) and so on.
I like the car but not the color combo. I also would not like to pay the maintenance upkeep. So I would pass on any AM although I would have liked to own one.
Oh, great, thanks for teasing me like that. It would take me a day at least to set up the $$$ to get anything, and another day to convince wife to not complain too much about it.
ggggrrrrrrrrrrrr..............
Yeah, that one is about the exact specs I'd want.
Now I will be pissed all day.
Thanks for keeping me informed though, I don't get into BaT often as they don't seem to have 'good' cars most of the time.
When was an Alfa not incredibly promising....and when was that promise ever worth the other heartaches.
I think people have less of a stomach these days for the grief that comes with an Alfa because you cant just take it to a gas station to be worked on, like you could in the old days and Tony would show some patriotic enthusiasm. Nowadays, Pedro wants as much as the dealership- no joke.
I can show you several 2 year old Alfas with 3000 miles for $20k- and this was one of the best car designs in the last few decades. 0-60 in 3,2sec, incredible sounds, handling to die for.
I have a 2017 alfa giulia qv. three years of ownership. no issues beyond some software updates. I love the car...simply sublime!!!!!

Hmmm. Interesting. Of course you know in Italy the common consensus is the Alfas are about as dependable as a ...
But this is good to hear. Lately I ‘ve been driving a few Lotus’ and 4Cs... And believe it or not, I’m leaning the 4c way.
Really? It looks like morning frost. I see a Virage Volante in the same color near my parents' house. Bitter chocolate interior. Looks stunning. I find there are too many (including mine) that are greys and black. Add a few silver metallics and that's 80% of all sold.
I think the white Aston posted has enough contrasting exterior bits and visual interest to pull off the white.
i admit I’m partial to the darker silver and gray colors Aston offers but that is a nice looking car in that color to my eye. I prefer darker interiors for functional reasons (showing dirt) but it looks nice there too.
