Just got my Jag back after valley hose and other bit's n pieces replaced. They ordered two 118 ml bottles of AC/Delco oil but only used one bottle.Is one bottle enough?

4.2 L engine.

 

It depends on how they drained it… then filled it.
By removing the screw while the supercharger is installed or completely removing the supercharger and completely draining it.

Thanks Guy, I did come across a similar chart after a fair amount of "googling" - then I remembered this guys YouTube where he extracts 3 X 60 mll with
a syringe.so that gives somewhat of a base line.


The shop had the supercharger off to do the crossover/valley hoses, so it should have been easy to drain the oil - I'm disappointed with the service on the SC as I don't really
know how much they actually replaced.

 

I replaced the SC oil on my 2008 about 2 years ago with the SC on the car. See post #1304 in the What did you do on your X150 today thread.
About 190cc taken out and replaced using a syringe. Spec says 216 cc capacity. So if they only used one container of oil then I’d say it is under filled. Pretty easy to check (if a little fiddly) and top up to overflow on the 4.2L motor.

 

This was the replay from the service dept:

"According to the tech that is all he was able to get in there. The fill hole is similar to a differential, you fill to the bottom of the fill hole and no more will fit in."

Not very reassuring as if he was only able to say get 60 ml out then he only replaced 60 ml. I'm gonna send the service dept the video.

I'll probably do the job again myself pull out as much as possible noting how much is out V7.

 

They are correct on the refill to over flow. They just did a poor job of getting the old oil out. Probably didn’t cost you much more than the one container of SC oil though with all the other work they did.
Doing the job yourself will assure it is done right. Not a hard job at all, just make sure not to drop the fill plug. I had to wiggle the suction hose around a bit to get to the bottom of the sump in order to get as much oil out as possible. And probably not an urgent job as some fresh oil is in there.

They ordered two 118 ml bottles. They left the unused one in the car when I picked it up.The "tech" should have realized why there are two bottles in a kit. If they hadn't given me the "spare" bottle I would have been none the wiser.
