Just acquired a 2008 XKR with around 70k miles on it. I don't have the window sticker and wanted to ask the XKR buffs how this car was optioned. This looks to me like it doesn't have the portfolio package, but does have parking assist, power folding mirrors, and the Alcon's. So how rare is this assembly? From what I could find there were only around 1000 XK's imported to the US in 08, so I'm thinking only around 100 coupe XKR's but not sure about the brake package. Loving the car!! (just painted the wheels the gunmetal)
Came from driving a 2011 Subaru STI and 1999 BMW Z3.
Nice ride, enjoy. Welcome to the forum. Send the VIN to Jaguar North America, ask for the build sheet and they should be able to provide you with all the info about your car. Their phone nr is 800-452-4827

Post a close up of the brakes.
Does the door sill say Jaguar or Portfolio when you open the doors?
Your picture is definitely an Alcon front caliper and rotor. For 2008, Alcon brakes were included with the optional Portfolio package. Alcons were also available as a stand-alone option on non-Portfolio XKRs. For 2009, Alcons were a $5,000 option on the Portfolio; I'm not sure if they were available as a stand-alone option on the standard XKR.
Since it appears that your 2008 XKR is not a Portfolio the Alcons make it rare. If it had Adaptive Cruise, that would, as our British cousins say, make it bloody rare!

I agree with Stuart.....We both own 2009 XKR Portfolios w/ Alcons.
Certainly you have the Alcons. You have a "rare" beast of a Jaguar.
Get a build sheet, to see exactly what you have there. Beauty of an XKR.
Indeed it does have the adaptive cruise control. Yee! The car basically drives itself.
I pulled the adaptive exhaust fuse also which made it loud in all the right places. Tinted the front and rear lights and windows. Will have to make a build thread for this beast. Not sure what other mods are even needed, need more reading time here!

See my signature for the mods I've done and search for those threads if any are of interest to you. In addition, if you need more power, search for pulley and ecu tune and crossover x-pipe. Other appearance mods include Jaguar logo puddle (ghost) lights, upgrade to 2010-up LED tail lights, front splitter and rear spoiler, and carbon fiber mirror covers and hood vents. See Mina Gallery's website. You may also want to add the dealer-installed iPod connectivity module to play music using your steering wheel controls. Since you have Alcon brakes, aftermarket wheels that fit are virtually impossible to find, but Richzak developed a source from Canada at a reasonable price - search for Braelin for details.
Is there any evidence that the sill door plate was changed to Jaguar from Portfolio and is there any evidence on the rear of the XKR on the left side that there was ever a plate that was removed that said Portfolio.
Under the emblem XK there is a name plate Portfolio.
If not, then you have a rare car.
May I ask what you had to pay to get the car?
I have a 2009 XKR Portfolio Convertible with just 17,000 miles so I am always trying to determine what my value might be. I have made no mods to the car except replacing the OEM Selena wheels.
There is no indication that the door sills were replaced and no sign of a badge on the back. The main indication to me that it isn't a Portfolio is that it doesn't have the same speakers included in the package. Price was 25k in southern california.
My 2009 Convertible XKR Australian delivered has Alcon brakes, but no adaptive cruise control, also has Jaguar door sills. Not sure of rarity but have not seen any others.

SteveSal,
It appears that the Portfolio package for 4.2L XKR models differed by market, namely North America (USA) and the rest of the world (ROW). Your 2009 Australian model has Cremona wheels and appears to have Shadow Gray paint. Note that the first model year for the X150 in the USA was 2007, but was 2006 in the UK and the ROW. So comparing model years world-wide can be a bit confusing. The Portfolio package with Alcon brakes was available in the last 2 years of the 4.2L.
All 2008 USA Portfolio models had Cremona wheels and Alcon brakes and were painted Celestial Black, a bluish-black. All 2009 USA Portfolio models had Selena wheels and were painted Shadow Gray; Alcons were a $5,000 option. Adaptive Cruise was optional in both years and "Portfolio" sill plates were standard.
So, the 2009 Australian Portfolio is like the 2008 USA Portfolio except for the paint color. Or would that be colour down under, I wonder?
I have a 2008 XKR (not Portfolio) in Ebony Black/Charcoal interior. I obtained the original window sticker that reflects poplar interior veneer, wood luxury package, premium sound system (Alpine), 20” Cremona wheels, Alcon High Performance brakes and adaptive cruise control.
I’m working on obtaining replacement pistons/seals/wiper seals but want to verify the piston sizes. It has 6 pot front & 4 pot rear and the calipers have the white raised R. Does anyone here know what the sizes are? I’m getting conflicting information when I research them.

This company offer full rebuild service for Alcons. Jag uses Mono 6 in front and Mono 4 in the rear, same as Nissan Skyline GT-R
Jahummer, drawings & specs may help. The front calipers are CAR97 & the rear are CAR98. I know the front have 3 different size pistons but I’m not sure about the rear size(s) and is where I’m getting conflicting information.
The shop I go to can do the service of replacing pistons & pressure/wiper seals. An authorized Alcon shop in NC used to do remans but no longer does. My shop called them for prices and that’s when we found they no longer provide this service.
Any further assistance you can provide is golden. Thx

The company I provided the link to above rebuilds them. The link I provided also lists the rebuild kits and prices.
Here are the engineering drawings which list the part numbers and specs to all components including pistons, pressure and wiper seals.
