How to remove center console wood trim pieces?

Great photos! Thanks! I'll have another go this weekend. I will attempt to hold the plastic sub-frame on both sides as its twisting when I try to slide off the veneer.

Default No Luck!

Ok tried again this weekend exactly as described,and that cover is NOT sliding off. Any other options? Can I remove the entire assembly? I see two screws on either side...

No, I never could figure it out, it wasn't sliding off and I was in danger of creating some damage by trying to force it further!
