Bring a Trailer is an online car auction site. The nice thing is that the comments for the auction were preserved, so I could see what other questions others had, any issues they noted, etc. and then leverage that when I reached out to the dealer who had it on consignment.

I found the car on one of the car listing aggregate sites first, and then I ran the VIN through the search engines to see if it was listed elsewhere previously for a lower price.

That same trick got me a stunning metallic flake dark blue 2011 XK as Plan B, for $6,000 under the dealership's price listed on their site since they'd had it listed elsewhere cheaper for a few days. I used Google cache to screencap the original price and negotiate down to that as the starting point. In the end, I went for the Radiant Red XKR and got it but I'd be happy with either.

 

Exactly my thought too when I first read it! I guess "dirty" minds think alike....or at least "dirty old men" which the wife would say describes me!
