"Improved" spare parts
Dear Sirs!
Sometime ago I found a source for metal transmission bottom plates ( including the filter ). Now I´ve learnt, that that was für the same tranny, but used in Land Rovers. Makes sense. That not knowing then, I let myself talk into buying the original, ZF ( "Zahnradfabrik Friedrichshafen" ) spare parts kit. OK; ZF is not the worst name ...
Now, PLEASE:
where do I get a METAL ZF 26 tranny plate, that fits a 2007 4.2 lt XK?
And I´ve also read about an Aluminium Thermostat housing. I would LOVE to buy that, along with Thermostat itself, NOW.
I´ve read about an improved water pump with metal rotor, too, don´t know where, but I already bought that pump
Seems I have some kind of plastic allergy ...
Can please anybody help me with ( European? ) sources?
Thanks in advance, Hermann

There is no aluminium thermostat housing for the 4.2 litre normally aspirated engine. Change the water outlet, which includes the thermostat, whenever the coolant is changed.
If you're referring to the ZF 6HP26/28 pan/filter combination, there is a metal one used on Range Rover vehicles. Is the one on your vehicle leaking?
Use the original Jaguar water pump having the latest specification and superseded part number to ensure proper fitment.

Improved does not always mean better... esp. when the improvement was done by a third party. Contrarily to popular belief a plastic part is often as resistant and long lasting as a metallic one.
I remember on the X100, two first generations of water pumps had plastic impellers that broke when slightly overheated; then a third one had metallic impellers, which were more resistant but then the bearings failed... And the fourth generation, which was ok, had again (heat resistant) plastic. And the aftermarket aluminium thermostat housing often was leaking at the seal as dilatation differential had not been well estimated.
