Does anyone have a source at a non-stupid price for the inner mirror cover (tweeter housing, drivers side)? I broke mine a while ago and now that I went looking for them online I can't find one under $200. Seems like it should be a $35-40 part.

I had a similar issue, though mine still has some of its tabs so it seems to stay in place. While looking for options, I noticed the later chrome-ringed version, which TexasTraveler already linked to, seems to be about half the price for no obvious reason! They also look nicer, though obviously you'd need two.
I read a thread here some time ago which confirmed the later part should fit in place of the earlier part, as a member said a dealership mistakenly fitted the early part to his later car.

 

They are all interchangeable regardless of model year, just with or without the chrome ring
