Default Issue starting ... brake pedal

Starting the 2007 XKR occasionally I get a lot of brake pedal and the car won't start. Second or third time the pedal seems to give a bit and the car starts fine. I'd be fine overriding the brake to start ... but I'd rather it worked as it should ... I have a new AGM battery it is certainly not a battery cranking problem ... there's enough juice now to crank the motor for a WWII fighter plain, some gremlin to deal with the brake, the safety switch, something ... any thoughts?

If you inadvertently pump the brake pedal, it will feel high and rock hard. The high pedal makes it difficult to make contact with the starter switch, so you'll have to stand on the brake pedal with both feet when you press the start button.

The simple solution is to press the START button BEFORE you step on the brake pedal.

Note that other manufacturers require that you step on the brake pedal before you press the start button. Jaguar works either way, but I find that my car starts much quicker when I press the start button before stepping on the brake pedal.

My Jaguar service adviser recommended this, notwithstanding the Owner's Handbook to the contrary.

It's a quirk ... I'd rather have it right, but every Jaguar I've owned has been quirky ...

Thanks!

You're a newbie ... that's what the button on the bottom right corner is for.

Occasionally I find my brake pedal to be hard when I go to start it. This is ALWAYS after not driving it for several days. My assumption is that I have a very small vacuum leak and the brake booster vacuum leaks down over time.
