Default Jaguar XKR detailed

Got my wheels repainted and got a single-step polish correction done by TLC Auto Detail in Chantilly, Virginia.

What do you guys think??

The funny thing is the first light I pulled up to after picking it up, a guy reversed his car to get next to me and ask what year it was!!

Looks great! I'm happy to hear he didn't back up into you. That's where I thought that story was going. Haha

Personally, I think the 2007-2009 models have a purity of design that the 2010+, 2012+ models just don't have. Then again, the 2010s+ have a lot of performance enhancements that make up for it!!

Looks great, and I think the Senta wheels are the best ever put on a Jaguar. I'll trade you a set of black Kalimnos for them.

Sucks that the front has to be ruined by the Virginia license plate. I'm glad we don't need them in NC.

I was just thinking about that. I'm so used to seeing a front plate on cars that it doesn't bother me much. Wouldn't want to remove it because then I'm giving the cops probable cause to stop me!!

Was the car clay barred or nano skinned prior to the detail finish?

Yes, the use of the clay bar is old school but many detail shops will still use them. That is why I asked if the car was nano skinned?

A polish is just a polish and is something that is done to prepare the car for a paint sealant or ceramic paint coating. Polishing a car is NOT the last step in the detailing process.

Polishing the surface of the paint will not necessarily remove the grit and contaminants on the paint surface. The clay bar or the nano skin sponge or nano skin glove will remove the microscopic grit, that you can't feel with bare skin.

Do a simple test, place a thin sandwich baggie over your hand and swipe the surface of the paint with the tips of your fingers. You will immediately feel the grit if it is there. If so, the paint surface needs proper surface prep before even polishing the surface.

The paint surface with the sandwich baggie should be a smooth as glass.

Give it a try.

I have a friend with a new 2016 Corvette. He stopped by the house, he told me he waxed the car 3 times already. I told him the car looks great but is the paint surface free of contaminants? We did a simple sandwich baggie test over the surface and he was amazed at how rough the surface was. I told him your waxing over a contaminated surface, and the car needs to be totally stripped of the wax and the car needs to be nano skinned. Now, he will purchase a nano skin wash mitt (is suggested the Fine Grade) and will start over stripping the car.

Agreed, wish I had them on mine too. Did pick one up for $150 last year, now I just need 3 more!

OP - great job!
