Default Key Fob Battery

My 2008 XK is telling me that my key phob battery is low, for both keys. Is this something that I can replace myself or do I have to have the dealer do it? I didn't know if the keys would need to be reprogrammed or not? I thought they could be charged by inserting them in the center console while driving? Please, any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Do you have the owner's manual? It contains detailed instructions on replacing the key fob battery. The battery is available from any drugstore. No reprogramming is needed.

Yes, that is the correct battery...your owner's manual also tells you that putting the fob in the dock does NOT charge the fob battery...owner's manuals make very interesting reading, especially for complicated cars like the XK.

I had a similar problem with both my key fobs when the main car battery voltage dropped!
