Ferrari 458 vs my 2009 XKR Portfolio Convertible
So a few days ago my cousin and I were driving next to a 24-26yr old Red Ferrari 458 Owner by PCH in Newport/Huningtion Beach, and my cousin and I were chatting with him for a bit and decided to race down a 60mph street/road with nobody around at all. We were in my 2009 XKR Portfolio Convert and from a 20mph start we took off and holy **** we couldn't even hear our jag exhaust (top down, so we were a little slower and could hear everything..) and all we could hear was his insane stock 458 exhaust, it sounded like a Race car!! We were almost tied for the first 2 seconds then his car Definitley started to pull away from us and then my cousin started to brake before we passed the speed limit and 458 Driver kept on speeding down the road since he wasn't putting anyone In danger (seriously no other cars were around at all, just his and mine) but Wow did he get really far from us! After we caught up with him I asked if he had any Mods and he said he didn't have any at all, just some visual ones which were Carbon Fiber on the Engin and the interior and that's it. The XKR is stock as well and since it's before 2010 it's only got the 4.2 Engine not the 5.0 and has 90hp less then the 2010+ 5.0 XKR engine.
Anyone else raced a Ferrari, Lamborghini or ect??
I'm really curious how much better we could have kept up to him if I had the 5.0 XKR or even XKR-S!

Yep it's a present design car and it has a 4.5L 560 HP V8 in it so if it was a 458 then all you would have seen were it's taillights. It could have been a 355 or 348 but because they all rev around 8500 rpm they sound amazing. They all howl.

I had the pleasure of driving my partners...
2013 458 spyder for a month after he wrecked it and we fixed it at our bodyshop. He had already bought a new 2014 and we were sending the 13 to auction so he didn't care. Anyway, I love Jaguar and will always but holy moly those 458's can fly and in a split second. Add to this the absolutely orgasmic sound of the engine (especially with the rear window lowered) and it makes you want to rob a bank to get one. On another note, they draw so much attention (even in the most expensive parts of AZ) and you really do need to be **** about where to park it for fear of anyone touching it.
I am still casually looking for an XKR-S and as much as I know they are rockets I also know it doesn't completely compare to a 458. I will say however working the radio did kinda suck, so I just gave up and hit the gas. LMAO !

Lol no it was Definitley a 458 I know my cars. I was actually recording everything until the guy said hey no recording the race to me. But yes he was ahed of us by half a car for the first second then the 2nd second he was slightly more then a full car ahed, then after that he completely left us in dust and then again he didn't pay attention to the speed limit (60mph) he probably hit 110mph, because after we wanted to catch up to him it took us like 10 seconds or so when he finally slowed down to take a turn and then there was a dip and he practically stopped in the middle of the road almost so he could turn his wheel all the way right then left so he wouldn't touch the floor with the car.

Sweet looking blue 458. What did it go for? Much damage?

Nor does the price tag - I'm not sure how the prices in the US work out, but here the Jag is the most car I can get for the money. That was one of the main things that got me into Jags in the late 80s; I wanted a performance car that wouldn't cost stupid money (because I didn't have it) to buy and run.

Damage totaled $159,867.00..... exactly ! I was hoping it would hit 160K but came it came up short. Ive got the $9700 steering wheel on display in my office as a memento, LOL.
It did sell for 300K, was never reported as damaged as AIG Insurance doesn't report any of there high end insured accidents (remember that for the future). The car (pat my shop on the back) looked as new when it was sold and it wasn't announced since it wasn't reported. As soon as the buyer takes it to Ferrari for service it will come up in the system. Not the extent of the damage but the fact that the airbags and seatbelt sensors had to be reset because they were replaced.
The car was 9 months old, had 2100 miles, was $378K new with the options he chose.

I agree completely, which is why I am passively looking for an XKR-S and not a 458.
