Marky, since you're from the UK, I'm sure you know that Ian Callum designed the X150 as an update of the X100 tribute to the E-Type, with styling cues reminiscent of the original models made from 1961 to 1975. That's why there are so many "old school" design elements, including the wood veneer and leather interiors. Nevertheless, some concessions were made to appeal to non-traditional buyers, such as carbon fiber bits and pieces and the controversial optional spun aluminum dash that Jeremy Clarkson observed: ".... and all I've got in here is sort of five acres of... tinfoil."
So, while you consider that wood and leather interior to be ghastly, others absolutely love it. It floats their boat but sinks yours. And that's OK because tastes vary and we're fortunate to have so many choices in such a great car.
So do tell how old is Stuart S? I'm 53 and can hardly be considered a 'hip young urbanite'. Appreciate Jaguar's are a British car and I'm British as is 'Sir' Ian (albeit he might say Scottish), so logically my opinion has to count for more than someone who isn't?
Am sure you are going to dash out and buy it...if only for the alloys!
The advantage of this cars leather (as I see it) is, if you have a laundry problem the deposits won't discolour the leather....lol
I think I got it right on my X100 (which to my knowledge plain Ian had no hand in), all of the leather came from Jaguar suppliers and the sports interior (in birds eye maple) was just right, and I'd still be driving it into retirement had it not been written off by fire.
So my re-trimmed interior was all jaguar and I think it looked jolly good.
But for my newest purchase I decided to be dragged into the 21st century with my 2014, am sorry that my new car and my opinions offend you so much.
Appreciate that I respect everyone's opinion, they don't have to agree with mine, sadly not everyone thinks the same way...hey but it would be a boring planet if we did...sigh!
Not my cup of tea but it may have looked better in the flesh.
I do agree on the lighter interiors though. A few of my Jag saloons had light interiors with great slabs of walnut and they looked great but I prefer the darker colours in the XK.

The 2009 XKR Portfolio interior was available in either all Black with Cranberry stitching or 2-tone Ivory and Slate with Slate stitching. Here's mine with the Rich Oak veneer.
