Angry leaking a/c

I have experienced a problem with water dripping into the passenger side floor of my XK Convertible 2008...any ideas about how to correct this will be appreciated.

Been there, done that. Start calling Jag dealers and hope one will do it the right way for under 1K with a rental car. Will be worth it though.

Sorry to hear you have the dreaded AC problem.... Not a cheap fix I'm afraid.
Best of luck to you on a quick and painless repair...

Welcome to our forum BTW!

You may be able to sort it for now by closing all the air vents then turning the fan on full. If you are lucky it will force the sticking drain pipe open and let the water out. Long term you probably need the drain pipe changed.

See these threads for a complete discussion of this problem and various fixes from expensive (difficult) to free (easy). Before going the expensive dealer route, try the easy free fix procedure (close all the vents, fan on high) and hope that it works. There's also a post somewhere about making a DIY snake out of a wire hanger to insert into the duckbill to clear it. Tearing out the dash or tranny to get to the drain line aren't the only ways to fix it.

I haven't had the problem, but for the last few years I do the easy, free fix procedure every 2 or 3 weeks just to keep the drain line clear.

Hope this helps,

Stuart

Question flashgordonfl

Tried the quick cheap fix for the water leaking into the passenger footwell of my XK Convertible...is it only convertibles that have this problem?
Does anyone have a diagram of the drain lines and how they are routed behind the dash...will be appreciated.

>> is it only convertibles that have this problem?

Nope - its been reported for conv and coupes, XK and XKR. The AC system appears to be the same for all.

I took a look at my collection of TSBs or 'Service Actions' on this for you - nothing.
The Workshop Manual has nothing useful - I found this:
>>
Most of the moisture in the air passing through the evaporator condenses into water, which drains out of the vehicle by passing through a drain tube to the underside of the vehicle.
<<
That was it - no diagrams, and only procedures for removing the entire unit.

I think you'll find the most useful info on this site.....

Jeremy

Smile leaking a/c

Got mine fixed yesterday in Jacksonville, FL......$1,600. Had to replace the a/c blower motor as it was damaged by the water.
They removed the dash...said it was the only way to properly correct the problem...asked about dropping transmission and they said they would not touch it using that method...would have to get another dealer....so, it's done and I hope never again.
