Default Looking at 07XK

So I've moved on to another 07 since the one with 22s seemed like it would be too much of a PITA. My question is how will I be able to hook my phone up in order to use Pandora? It has the Premium Alpine 160watt.(doesn't sound too premium to me)

Just so everyone know where I am on this. I'm flying out to Virginia to pick up the XK from a dealer.(If the car checks out and I like it) I know it has an aux power point in the glove box but not sure if that can be used for a AUX for the stereo as well. I want to bring a bluetooth module with me so I can stream music on the way back to Dallas. Do the premium 160 watts on the 07 typically have a connector for phones in the glove box?

On the 07, the aux audio input was an option. The module cost around $300 list price, more at some dealers), and at least another $2-300 for installation. If you are handy you can install it yourself, but you still need the dealer to enable it.

If you are buying the car from a dealer, and it does not come standard with this option (few did), if I were you I would use it at a negotiating point and get the dealer to install it.

Generally no. The ACM (Audio Control Module) is an option. My 07 XK did not come with it, so I bought one, and plan to install it in the next couple weeks. Then I'll need to take the car to a dealer to get it 'turned on' in the software so that the 'aux' screen will appear on the main display.
Ask the dealer you are buying from, to see if there is already an ACM installed.

The Jag part number of the ACM is C2P16491

Cool, thank you for your help. When they install that where is the connection typically? I'm guessing on that part you connect your iphone directly to it. Can you also connect an Android to it?

Typically there are 2 connection points.
The first is in the glove box on the dash, and has a USB port and L/R RCA audio connectors (and a toggle switch to select which is active).
The second connection point is a 30 pin Apple iPod connector (on a short cable) in the glove box in the center console. An Apple 30pin to Lightning adaptor can be used to connect to newer iPhones.
This connector can also be used with some aftermarket Bluetooth adaptors (Tune2Air) to give you a Bluetooth audio connection.
However, do a search on this forum, and you'll find many instances of folks having issues with the iPhone to XK/R connectivity (and some others that have no problem).
Some replies to the iPhone issue encourage the poster to switch to Android for fewer problems.

KJ, do most of the cars have the L/R RCA connector? I would be happy with that I think. I believe I can get a connection from my headphone jack on my droid to an RCA.

No, not unless the car was ordered originally with the ACM option as described above or it was added on later. You can check the glove box and center console for the outlets to tell.

I could play Pandora in my 07 XK either with aux or I thought with ipod connection as well. I had all the options for that year.

Steve is correct, the RCA connectors are part of the ACM option/kit.

Well I picked the XK up. It has the RCA connection and the USB in the glove compartment. Can I plug a usb memory stick in the USB connection and play MP3s from it? Also, I have a connection in my middle compartment. I've never seen one like it so I'm assuming it's an Apple connection. It's pretty long and thin.

Well done! You've got a rare one with the ACM already installed.
Supposedly you can plug a memory stick in there and play the tunes (haven't installed mine yet, so I can't say definitively), and yes, that should be an Apple 30 pin connector, for which you can get an Apple 30 pin to lightening adaptor if you have a newer model iPhone.

Yes to the USB Drive and playing all your music. I have now about 10,000 songs on a 64GB USB Flash and it's still 3/4 empty. It takes about 20 seconds after ignition for all the files to be read and henceforth ready to play. The control is in the PORTABLE AUDIO screen inside the AUDIO screen. Mine works flawlessly.
