Default Lowering

Hi everyone. I have read some of the entries on this forum regarding lowering springs. I have an 07' XK and a few months ago I added H & R hub centric spacers (15 on rears and 20mm on fronts) to the car and am quite happy with the look. Lately I have been thinking of adding H & R lowering springs to the car. Tastes aside, I would really appreciate hearing from folks who have or have had their XK lowered and how they feel/felt about the ride, concerns etc. The roads I travel on are all generally in very good condition so I am not overly concerned about the possibility of the tire rubbing the fender, or so I hope. Any and all feedback is appreciated…...

Sorry if this is a hijack...have been seriously considering spacers. Perhaps you could post some pics of your car?

Thank you,

I have adamesh lowering springs on my xk the handling has improved significantly well that's the main reason I did it , it actually handles like it should have out of the factory no more understeer and sits a lot flatter throughout the corners

There are certainly pros and cons to spacers. The only type to ever install are high quality hub centric spacers that bolt onto the factory 'wheel threads' and in turn the wheels then mount to the lug bolts attached to the spacer. becomes one solid unit with the hub opening of the wheel resting on the 'new' hub of the spacer. Porsche mounts them on their high performance 911's to bring the wheels out. installed and tourqued properly they are not any more dangerous than an improperly installed wheel without spacers…. I think that I shall order my lowering springs. I like the look of your car.

Thank you,
I have mine fitted with 20mm front and 15mm rear H&R hubcentric spacers. The first picture is without the spacers last year and the second two is with them now. Mine are aftermarket rims , but have the same offset as the 20" sentas that were on the car. Have to say they make a big difference in the look and the front end turns in better i think. Hope this give you an idea.

One more question for those who have installed lowering springs……Did you or did you not replace the struts/shocks?

???? The first two pictures don't have a car in them, did you post the wrong ones?

I left the standard cat shocks/struts and simply replaced just the coil spring

You can run a 25mm on the front if you desire with the H&R Spring. Tested on a 20" setup and a 19" setup, not rubs.
A 15mm on rear doesn't rub unless you are at full articulation or a big bump. The only area you will witness rubbing is if you have the plastic trim add-on piece to the bumper. I tested the 20mm and that will rub more. With a 15mm you should be fine.
I highly recommend the spring. The ride quality does not drop. You gain so much feel by doing so.
