Default Making your own Handbook

I picked up my car from an auction lot so I was not surprised to find that the handbook was missing. I looked on ebay and was shocked to see sets going for $150+. Next I looked at the Jaguar website and they were selling it for about $200 after shipping. So I decided to make my own and this is what I came up with.

It's a day timer brand planner that I picked up at OfficeMax.

Cover sheet created on publisher

I made some quick reference sheets similar to the ones in the service manual using excel.

I also put down liquid/fluid types etc at a glance. I made a copy of the vehicle history in regards to ownership and maintenance copying the format used in Carfax

This is my take on a service history /records page

The paper type for this binder is A6.

Set your printer paper size to A6 and select Fit to paper size on the settings and it will print directly from the pdf.

The paper is nice and thick and Ivory colored and comes pre punched. I don't know if the pics do it justice but for about $55 and 2 hrs worth of editing and printing I really like the way it came out.

That's extremely cool. I too am missing the book and it's bit me a couple time buying filters and remembering oil change times.

Quite creative Vince! If I didn't have my book I'd follow your lead on this.

Nice job . I don't understand why people either keep or throw out items supplied with the car. Maybe it's just the few extra bucks that they want but to me it just shows the character of the person. Same with the extra set of keys .

Yeah that shouldn’t be a problem. I have the files on an SD card and I will upload them sometime later today.

Very nice!! Even though I have a manual, I'm going this route so as to have an "every-day" copy on hand. The ring binder would take more abuse, and page replacement would be easier if any got damaged.
Good bedside reading for the incurable geeks (yours truly...) among us.
I'm constantly amazed by the creativity of folks in this group!

Cool, man. If I ever decide to sell mine I'll do this. Now though, it'd just take up room in the glove box. My .pdf is searchable and takes up zero room.

Here is a copy of the excel spread sheets. This info is valid for 07-09. You could update the info for 2010 and newer. I could not upload the cover sheet, publisher files are not a supported document on this forum.

The tabs at the bottom of excel will show all the different pages. The leaper logo will look out of place in the background, but it will print properly. I tried uploading the 09 handbook but it kept failing, maybe the file size is to large (17mb).
