Your experience is totally believable, as Michelin has changed the thread compound several times. You dont change compound unless there was something wrong. Will further add that it abundant clear that there was a lot of 'experimenting' going around.

I am on their newer compound and it has nothing in common with the ones they gave you. In fact pure bliss.

 

Any idea of the DOT manufacture date for yours? I believe mine were made in 2013 & 2014.

 

Yep, pretty much.....you're not going to get much more than that.

 

That pretty much goes for any summer performance tire on a >500hp car. If you want sticky you pay for it with changes...

 

I just bought a set of MPSS for my Kalimnos. I got them from Tire Rack. 285s for the rear.

 

Lots of followers on this thread, and lots of good discussion. I have been watching and now have to pony up the $$s and get a new set of rears. As another member said, with all the rain here in the Southeast plus the chance of low temps, I want to stay with A/S. So, the question....other than the Conti DWS, and the MPS A/S3+ has anyone looked at the BFG g-force Comp2 A/S? TireRack has it with just about the same traction ratings as the Conti's, they are USA made with a better price.

 

Friend of mine has bought a new Audi A6 TDI Quattro, nice family car. He got it yesterday, so just back after visiting him. It came with 21" rims and 275/35/21 tires all round. What were covering these rims, well Dunlop sports. Thought they might have been Continentals. As i said before i can't see anything wrong with Dunlops, they do the job for me.

 

As you have seen there are different opinions on different tires and as usual everyone has made the right choice for themselves. My recommendation is to do a little internet research and then see what type/brand fits your needs. The key point should be what type of driving do you do. Pick a category like summer performance or all season or grand touring and go from there.As for rating all tires go over 100mph but all drivers don't. Just because you have a high performance car but drive it at 30-70mph doesn't mean you nee a Z rated tire. Research and research some more then make your selection.
