Mounting a Go Pro in a 2010 XKR
Hi,
Has anyone tried this? If so, any tips on what does/doesn't work?
The preference would be to position it to capture the driver input as well as the track.
Thanks,
Rob
PS
Bonus Question: Trying to search on "Go Pro" only received hits for "Pro".
I thought that using quotes would force a search on the whole phrase only - how do I do that please?

The problem I had when experimenting with a mount farther back was the light balance would sometimes favor the road over the instrument panel, or would favor the glare on the window over everything else. I have never used something as fancy as a GoPro, however, so perhaps this isn't an issue.
As a side comment, Clever mentioned the "Harry's GPS Lap Timer" app on the other thread. I also use an app called Vidometer which overlays my speed and location information over the video. The only problem with these GPS-based apps is the GPS in the phone is not as accurate or as fast as you'd like it to be for serious applications. At least not for the iPhone.

Hi RobB,
if you buy a headrest camera mount like the one on this website -http://www.headrestmount.co.uk/#!shop/cs77 - and you chose the long vertical extension, you can mount the GoPro nearer to the roof. That way you blend out any direct sunlight into the lens and will have better in car view AND outside perspective. The wide-angle lens of the GoPro makes sure that you and your dashboard will show up in the movie scenes. Have fun but beware; in some countries filming the road and other cars is forbidden and heavy fines, sometimes combined with confiscating of the camera have occurred.

In Austria, Belgium, Luxemburg and Portugal they are forbidden. In other countries it depends upon how far privacy of other people is concerned. For example: in Austria, confiscation of the camera by the police occurs, accompanied by a fine up to €10.000 ,- (this is information provided by the german automobile club, ADAC).
It is up to the police to enforce these actions. As long as they don't catch you with a camera "in flagranty" nobody complains. I made beautiful videos with my handy cam mounted on the front window. My risk and luckily I got away with it in Austia, Italy and Switserland.
