Default My cheap facelift for £10

I put this in the UK forum, but also popping in here to as many of you guys don't use the UK forum:

I've always preferred the pre facelift version of the X150, this is why I took two steps back looking for an early XKR as I prefer the smoother lines for my project. As with many people, they weren't too keen on the headlights. I'm pretty sure this was to distance itself away from the more aggressive looking Aston Martin when Ford owned them both. The Jag lost out and got a more….happy face.

I had a moment wobbling and looking into getting a facelift done, but I'm not convinced with the new face lifted cars, the original design was already perfect. I've customised many cars in my life, so I put my old car design head on to get thinking how to improve my car. The original lights are like eyes wide open, as we all know in human terms this pulls a strange face. Now try frowning and this gives you a more angry aggressive look. So I got to work making my Jags eyes look more angry by closing them a little by adding a little 3M tape to the top of the light (same they use wrapping cars).

It's phenomenal the change, the car is transformed into an angry aggressive look car…all for £10!
Look at my pic, then compare to the orig below.

You are right for how it's looks, for the eyes and attitude it shows, and I guess it's one of the most important point of the car design, that is why I prefer the headlight from the earlier model 12-13 like Loth' s xkr-s with the led boomerang line on top, on the first photo with the sun reflect it looks like these earlier model.
Well done.

How much does it obscure the turn indicators?

It doesn't obscure them at all, nor the light beam.

It looks even better in the flesh when you see the light fall on it.

It's an optical illusion that BMW have been doing for years to make their lights more aggressive:

I think it looks sort of silly that way. Like those eyelashes people put on their cars.

I like the headlights just the way they are. I think one of the most attractive features of them is how long they are when looked at from above.

Just my opinion, I think the mod you've done makes the car look sleepy, not aggressive! But that's just my two cents!

The same caricature example could made from anything...changing the exhaust for example:

You hardly notice these strips on my lights until you look closely ...unlike the eye lashes!

The front bumpers where slightly different on the early X150 XKR's, they changed them from 2008/9 and added the side gills. I managed to find a XKR-S splitter, that I had painted the same colour as the car (they are usually grey on the XKR-S). It makes it blend into the original bumper really well, you're not the only person to think that its another bumper.

It looks nice Johnny, can you post a close-up of one of the lights? It does subtly alter the visage for the better.
