My Jaguar wanted a stable mate......so I decided to add a new addition to the car collection.

A good choice since the XKR and Cayman have very different personalities and you can chose whichever one best suits your fancy.

Your stable is off to a good start, but why stop there?

I have run out of garage space. 5 cars are too many, so one goes on the sale block next month in September......(Sonata Limited 2.0 T).

My wife would also make me sleep in the car if I added more. But hey, either the XKR or Cayman would make a nice "dog house".

Looks nice. I have seen them in white and yellow before and those colors put me off when it came to the front-end. Silver makes a big difference for me, I now think it looks great.

Congrats,

Albert

Nice car. I've been looking at the Cayman for the last few months. Did you get PDK and if so, how do you like it? Base of S?

The car will delivered by Sept 3rd. Yes, the Cayman will have the PDK 7 speed automatic with paddle shifters.

I am quite anxious to compare the luxury and performance of both of the Jaguar XKR Convert and the new 2014 Cayman 981. They will be great stable mates.

Both are beautiful cars, but certainly quite different from each other. I know the Jaguar XKR will compliment the Cayman and vice versa.

What will be nice, is to have the choice between to outstanding automobiles to drive and enjoy.

This is the Cayman base model with several premium options. In order to get into the Cayman S ....it takes an additional $11,000.

Congratulations, the front end is beautiful, so low you could pass so easy in cities etc but maybe harder for other to see you then, take care.

Rich, how about a little commentary on your observations of the differences of your two cars?

Richard,

A stable is a horse house (I don't mean it the way it sounds), so your next acquisition should be one that prances!

IMHO, one candidate for future appreciation is the Testarossa. Food for thought...

If I added a Ferrari to the collection, I hoping that you will come to New Mexico to help build the "dog house" as my other half will have me sleeping there.

Would you still be in the dog house if you surprised her with the keys on her next birthday?

My wife is afraid to drive the XKR, so I don't think she will drive the 981 either. She loves her Hyundai Tucson to much.

My wife was the same, and while loving to drive in it, she didn't want to drive the XKR either...and loves her RAV4. This summer she has slowly gotten over that, and is now fairly comfortable driving it. I did that by parking it in our city home's garage all summer where she lives and commutes to work during the week. I'm at the lake house doing a major retirement home renovation and needed the garage space there so gave the Jag the boot! She brings the Jag up each weekend for me so I can love and adore both of them, but during the week she is driving it more and more to the point I'm getting concerned about the miles she's racking up!

I also explained when buying it that there was no point in having the car if we were going to be afraid to drive or park it. Be cautious, but if something happens to it we'll fix it like every other car we've ever owned.

Hope that helps,

Bruce

Just like my wife; she says the seats in my XKR are too low to the ground and she feels safer driving her MDX. A lot of women must feel the same way because so many drive SUVs here in Atlanta. My wife is petite and she says she likes the sitting higher up to get a better view of the traffic ahead of her. Plus it's easier to get in and out of for her.

My wife was always intimidated from driving our more expensive cars until we got her own Jaguar XF. Now, she is beginning to drive my XJL, taking her friends along. I'm still not sure if that change is good or not so good.

My girlfriend actually likes driving the XK more now that she has a Range Rover. She can't get over how different they drive. I have to get her up to snuff on driving a manual as I'd like my next car to be a stick.
