My New Kitty - 2013 Jaguar XKRS- Navi Upgrade Recommendations
Howdy all! I haven't been active on the forum since I purchased my F-type brand new in 2014.
Well, I am entering the kitty cat's den again and just pulled the trigger on a 2013 XKR-S in French Riviera Blue. As we all know, the infotainment system has aged terribly and I was wondering if anyone has recommendations on replacements. I have seen the Tesla style screens (not sure where to buy them) and unsure of the quality, fit and finish. Also, it kind of irks me that the AC is supposedly only shown in Celsius and not farenheit.
What have you all done to remedy this? Any help would be appreciated. Really want to modernize the look and feel.
Under the user settings you can set the preferred temperature unit. (ditto for speed and distance).
As for nav, be prepared for the barrage... Some prefer a map view, others prefer direction view. I use navigation.com. Others use Waze...
Some like the chinesium monster display, others (like me) prefer to just drive and see the road and scenery.
But you do have a beautiful car. Well done. If I had that, I'd be going through a lot of tires and fuel.
I have the Tesla style screen and love it! The sound is unbelievable, it shows temp in Fahrenheit, fit & finish is great. I added a nushield screen protector to reduce fingerprints and allow use of polarized sunglasses. I’m using a T-Mobile SIM card for data so streaming services and navigation work seamlessly.
Arenaej, your pictures look fantastic. I'm jealous. Is that screen not too bright though? I was comparing it with your dash instruments which look (like mine) an awful lot dimmer. Also is there a night setting?

Screen brightness is fully adjustable with day/night settings. I made it brighter for the picture…

which unit is this? Do you have a link? Looks amazing
I know that most of you are based in the US so may not have an answer to this. My question is if I want an off-line navi program to use with this system which is the best especially for Europe and the UK?. Who provides the maps and can they be updated? The problems with on-line are the iffy connection and the high data charges when you leave your home country which many (most?) of us do.

There are no updates. You use either Android Auto/ Google Maps and CarPlay/ Apple Maps, Waze, etc.. If your phone is current, so is the system. And those systems have download/offline capability.
There are "unofficial" discs for the built-in system for Europe with much newer maps but buying illegal and untested software it is always a risk.
I have a disc for my OEM navigator which I believe is the latest at 2019 -20. Available to Ebay, it appears to be a genuine disc and not a copy, has a Jag logo, looks like it has been made in a proper DVD factory and has Jaguar's and Denso's part numbers on it. Of course it could all be forged I suppose. Anyway it works, after a fashion, but nowhere near as good as the Garmin based system in my Mercedes.
I was hoping that the "tesla style" system was as good if not better than the likes of Garmin or Tomtom with the extras of a better sound system and reversing camera. Is it true that the front and rear parking sensors don't work as well as the OEM ones when used with a reversing camera?

...
Jaguar calls that color French Racing Blue.
It's a great color that birds love, too! Be sure to keep a roll of paper towels and a spray bottle of water in the car, as bird poop is acidic and will etch the paint.

C2P15978 seems to be the last official version 2011-2012?
Everything after that was "unofficial". They look correct and usually work but they are counterfeits.
One set on Ebay at the moment is labled 2019-2020 but has a Ford-style Jaguar part number from the 2007-2008 disc! Jaguar stopped using Ford part numbers quite some time ago.
