Default My XKR suffered a mental breakdown

Went to start my car after short drive, and when pressing the button, all I got was a partial crank "ung" like the battery was flat. Tried it a few more times and it started turning over with no start until it truly ran the battery down. Then the windshield wiper started wiping, uncommanded. I think she's mad at me.

Low voltage can do weird stuff. I’d have the battery load tested at an auto parts or service center, and test the charging system.

As mentioned numerous times on this forum, when our cars start acting erratically, as mentioned above, it's frequently battery related. Have your battery tested, and if even questionable, have it replaced. Yes it's a pain due to it's size and cost, but most of the time it resolves many issues. Even if it's not the case, you have a new battery, which with XK ownership is a plus! Good luck.

Noticing a pattern here. Both you and Bocatrip are 100% coupe owners. Have either of you gone to the dark side and owned a vert? I own 2 verts. Plan to drive a 5.0 XK coupe and see how the other half lives. Reserving judgement.

I've had 5 verts (not jags) and enjoyed every one of them. I just happen to like the more purposeful look of a jag coupe. Nothing more than that.

The XK is one of the very few cars which was first designed AS a convertible then reworked into a coupe. A vast majority of cars are designed the other way 'round.

Agree on the look of the coupe. Why I am considering. Thanks CJ for the history. I thought design started w/ the coupe. From the back, the lines just flow.

I've decide to treat my 2008 as one that is suffering early onset dementia..be kind, understanding, pay the price...what a beauty.

High (right) Volts is no easy matter.
As is unwanted water, in places where it aught nought to be!

Thought I had a new issue yesterday. I was fiddling with my phone trying to prop it up on the center console so I could view the navigation when the car completely shut down. Engine and all electrics just quit!

I was only doing about 10 mph approaching a light, so not much drama fortunately.

The cause? The phone charging cable had pressed the stop/start button. 😋
