Navigation Not Working

Navigation Not Working
Hi,
I have a 2006 xk, I bought the new navigation DVD as mine was a bit out of date with many roads missing. I inserted it this morning and it said it had to update software and would take about 15 mins so I clicked continue. The screen then restarted and then said checking DVD. I left the car for about 10/15 mins and the screen stayed the same (just on normal home screen with no messages). I thought it had finished to I tried clicking the navigation button but nothing happens - it doesn't open, I just hear the beep when I click a button.
I inserted the old DVD to try that, still no joy. Can anyone help? I would rather not have to take it into Jag and get charged a fortune.
