How do I use the navigation system in my 2007 Jag XK? It does not allow local routes to be entered into the system. It only shows mid west locations and Arizona.

1st read the owners manual . Then go to the nav setup and change the area of the country to where you live.

What he said. There is an ‘Eastern US’ and a ‘Western US’ disk. Both have the Midwest and Canada as overlapping data.

If your maps are old and outdated, buy the Volvo discs discussed in the link below. They're the newest maps available, and cost less and are newer than the map update from your Jaguar dealer.

For details, see my Posts #67, 106, 107, and 141:

...... and you will lose the British Chick speaking your directions. Kind of a win-lose situation.

Agreed, but that's the price you pay to have the most current maps.

I need to send my wife to a language school to learn the British accent, as she’s always telling me where to go.

For those that have installed the update (Right; no British voice is why I have hesitated, too.)

Is there an Australian or some other country as a software choice that sounds 'British". I'm a stupid American - Australian etc sounds similar enough that I'd be ok with that.

Well Oz and Brit sound a world apart to me, but I can test it next time I'm out and about and let you know.

Hi, Sean W. Have you had the time and chance to see if the new (Volvo) map update has an Australian voice (and is it female)?

Thanks in advance,
wrair

OP might have missed it but you need to put what state you are planning to visit in before selecting the address. PITA for me since I have since I have four within a short drive.

Ranchero,
You're in Maryland, so be sure to not select the District of Columbia as HOME. That's the Congressional Edition. It's programmed to get nowhere and sometimes it works and sometimes it ... well, you know the rest.

OK guys. I'm sorry for not getting to this sooner. The US version of the Volvo maps have only English and UK English as options for English speaking guidance. There is no Aussie English option. Again, the UK does nothing when selected, only selecting English works with voice guidance and the accent is American.

But it's not like hearing my wife, you know, "No no, you're going the wrong way." and "Why did you turn here? There's road construction!". Lastly, the waypoints in Navigation are also different than the Mrs. You won't hear, " Oh turn down here. I want to see if the Johnsons changed the color of their house from that God awful blue."

Like a sign I once saw outside a London pub,

Can anyone clarify what is the latest 'Jaguar' maps....is it the 2010-11 disc pictured above?

If I'm reading it correctly if you want later you have to buy a Volvo disc?

As to the voice I think it quite funny that Americans would prefer an English voice, when I've been stateside and being served in a store I always thank the server and the conversation usually goes like this:

Me: Thank you so much
Them: Gee I love your accent
Me: (with a smile) But I don't have one?
Them: Sorry?
Me: (still with a smile) OK so what language do you speak?
Them: Eenglish (can't really type the accent well)
Me: (grinning now) I think you'll find I speak English and you're the one with the accent, courtesy sounds so much nicer when spoken well
Them: A confused look

Oh, in the 90's my voice was on over 11 million answer machines, it got annoying ringing friends to have me answer the phone!

I had to re-read this a couple of times. Your accent is so thick, I had a hard time understanding your question.

See Stuart's post #5 above and it has the link to the info you want.

Thing is though, the 2014-15 (? I think? 13-14???) maps have a vehicle update on them. I don't know if the Volvo disks are capable of that.
