OK I just took the challenge and installed the red badge that I bought a few months ago. I did it without removing the grill and only used a piece of waxed (strong) string and a plastic putty knife. The whole process took 10 minutes. 1st get the putty knife behind the badge then work the string behind it. Use a sawing action and saw half way down and then again half way up . There are 2 plastic pins on the badge. Once loose work the badge off using your fingers. Clean off the glue material and stick on the new badge. 2012 XKR

As can be seen in the pictures posted by GGG and JackJohn, the early model emblems protrude more than the later models, as posted by jagtoes.
So katmac, the emblem you got from the dealer looks like the one jagtoes just took off, a flatter design.
Some threads seem to suggest that the emblem is held on by a nut on the backside, I don't know.
Give the floss method a try, either it works or it doesn't.

The original '07 Growlers were plastic and smooth on top. The one you got from your dealer is apparently a later version. As Jwooky says, just use a plastic spreader and pull it up. You should get some Goo Gone from the auto parts store to remove the residue before applying the new one. Good luck and send us a picture when you get it completed.

Annnd, update....we got the original 'cover' or whatever it is off there and the two holes for the clips on the emblem are at 12 and 6 o'clock, where they should be at 9 and 3 o'clock. So, in other words, had I pushed the emblem on there, the growler would have been sideways. (What the?)

Don't know if whoever painted that grill somehow manage to turn it or....

Going to have to pop back into the dealer to see if I can get one of the lads to put it on for me, unfortunately

On the UP side of things though, I work as an end of lease inspector, so I'm in and out of the dealership all the time and the sales manager took a look at my wheels last week and noticed that they had worn. I said I knew and would get around to them shortly and he said 'no worries, I've a set in my desk' and gave them to me, how sweet!

Now the wheels look brilliant, just have to get that grill emblem in!

Just and FYI here about the nut/screw on the back. On the red replacement badge there is a screw in the center but it is there to hold the Jaguar face. The design is 2 piece so they need to screw the face on. On my black background badge there was no screw and the face popped off when I dropped it. That is most likely why they screwed on the later design. The badge is held on with double sided tape only.

Yup, the one I have is the black faced one, double sided tape, nothing in the center, just the two posts on there. I'm debating snapping the bloody things off and just sticking it on and hoping for the best, but I realize that's just my frustration talking.

That's what the boys of the fam were thinking, that there's some sort of screw in the center, but, of course, it's not easily visible due to the cowling on top and below the grill itself. BUT, if it's 'get to able', that center bit can be rotated I'm assuming so those holes are where they should be?

Me thinks I'll sneak it into the dealership when next I'm there doing an inspection...unless it's easier than it looks....

@jagtoes, where did you get your red emblem from? Is it genuine Jaguar emblem from dealer or aftermarket? I've been meaning to do this to mine for a while now.

Agreed, I love the Red badges, but when I asked at the dealership, I was told it was just the black's for the XKR's

I believe it was from ebay. Somewhere around $30 . There were 2 different sizes and I got the 85MM one.

WHOOOO HOOOOO!!

Alright! So, had a hell of a week here, took him out Monday, it was raining, and the 'check tire pressure' light came on the dash. I took a look, told it it was behaving a big baby, and continued on. As the day progressed, so did the look of said tire.

Curses.

Took it into a dealership that I do a lot of work with, we did the spray test (soap and water), no bubbles. Hmm, might be the change in temps...filled it back up, light went off, everyone leaves happy.

For about an hour.

Curses. Again.

Next day, took him BACK in, they took it off and finally found the culprit, a nail in the inner sidewall.

Curses. Times 3.

Need a new tire. Was told they retail for about $550-600 but, because (and I quote here) 'you're not really a PERSON Kat...' I got it for cost, at around $180. (Man, membership has it's privileges...) So, new tire ordered in, and I brought it back in today to have it mounted.

WHILE there, I said 'hey! This here emblem you gave me is wrong, you're all a bunch of degenerates!!' (Yes, that was a quote too, but there was saltier language used..)

'Huh? What year? And it's the XK or XKR?'

'It's the R'

'Oh. Well, that explains it, we gave you the wrong one..'

SO, IT'S ON!! FINALLY! AND, IT'S THE PROPER ONE! MY WEE GROWLER NOW HAS A PROPER FACE!!

I'll post pics tomorrow, by the time I got home tonight, it was too dark to get a fittingly attractive picture, but thanks SO much to everyone for scratching their head right along with me, much appreciated!!

Pics to follow!

It may be a bit late, but I as well as some others here have done this upgrade, check this thread for a better understanding of the differences and how to:
