New Sports Seats
HI,
Anyone noticed how the seat belt drags on the bead of the seat when you pull the belt to fasten it. It will eventually wear through the seat beading. Its blackened the bead badly now after just 1600 miles. It seems to show up on cream trim.
It cleans off with Cif cleaner, but it is really a bad design.
It’s a shame they could not make a better job of the press stud fasteners with a chrome guide of some sort. The standard seats have a better guide for belts
If you look close at the second picture you can see the wear on the bead after this low miles use.

They have missed this on design. The bead has lost the top off it already.
Anyone else with sports seats looked under the belt on the seat for wear?

I think I found a make shift solution. A piece of self adhesive 3mm thick carbon fiber placed over the beading so that the belt only pulls over it when in use. The carbon can be replaced or removed at any time.
If you have light colored sports seats (2011 MY on) you will have a hole in your beading soon without this. Its worn mine down in just 1900 miles. A black trim will be less noticeable than ivory.
For an expensive car and a lot more for these seats £3000 this is a joke.
Jaguar should have designed a chrome bracket or something to sort this.
I wonder if you could claim on this when they are worn badly?

Its a rubbish set up. The magnetic over plastic system on the normal seats is much better. It just rubs plastic then, not the seat bead. If it was black you could touch it up.
