No response from soft top

Default No response from soft top

Had to replace the battery on a 2009 XKR 5.0L convertible Tried to open roof but no response from soft top is there something that need s to be reset for the top to work

A couple things to check. Make sure you put the boot top cover in place correctly. Take it out and reinstall. Look t the left edge to make sure the little metal tab is still on as that's what triggers the switch. If that is OK then reset both windows using the procedure in the OM. If it still fails to open then there is a bigger problem. Others will chime in here.

Default Takes a while

When I changed my battery my finger was on the button for at least 4mins before the roof moved.

Hi, boot separator is in place, normally if this isn't in place the windows drop but the roof doesn't retract if it's not in place. When the roof switch is depressed nothing happens at all so will need to check I didn't break any connections whilst removing the battery as it's a real pain in the X150 convertible to get the battery out.

It is unlikely that you broke a connection. Try removing fuse F8 (in fusebox between the rear seats) for 10 seconds and then reinsert it. Hold the button for a good minute and see if it comes back to life.

If not, you will need to follow the manual reset procedure in the owners manual.

Ok thanks for the info, I will try that when the weather improves as it's snowing here just now and I don't want to try opening the roof as the car is kept on the drive, in case it doesn't close properly

There are two sensors/contacts One is shown at the end of the bar that had to removed as shown above. The other is the boot/roof separator that detects whether the separator is up or down. On my 2007 the roof or window do not move if the separator is not properly in situ.

Hi,
Just a note, to say I managed to get the soft top to work after disconnecting the Negative terminal on battery for around 15mins and reconnecting and have no problems since
