I have noticed a very high pitched noise that occurs for about the first minute after the car starts up. It almost sounds like high pitched brake squeal but happens without touching brakes. Question if it might be related to air conditioning unit. Any thoughts? Thanks and love my 09 xk and the forum

 

First off, I see only 6 posts, so welcome to the forum!

Obviously it looks like we need a tad more info to be of any help....

Is the problem easy to replicate? If so open the hood and give us a clue what part of the engine bay it is coming from... May just be belts? How many miles on the car?

yes this is a good question...my nissan maxima with 114,000 miles is making a high pitched squeeking noise that I assume is a belt. At what point do these XK R's and RS's start sounding not so great when you start them up. I mean right now it growls and snarls and you love it...when does it squeek and not sound so great??!? Anybody gotten theres up to over 100k miles and had some extra noises? Was there any fix?? ie belt replacement etc?!?!?

car has 42k miles, I have owned it for 4 months, this is my 4th jag. and by far the best. have not listened to it with the hood up, hear it for about the first mile intermittently and then goes away, will have to check with hood up
