There will always be a faster Jaguar race car, but there will never be another Jaguar built specifically for the track that is as beautiful and historic than this D-Type that won Le Mans in 1955.


It was sold at auction in 2016 for almost $22 million, making it the most expensive Jaguar in the world. And rightfully so.

That takes me back a bit. I think I have some better ones somewhere but this is a photo I took of the XJR-9 in 1988 at the 1000km race at Brands Hatch.

Martin Brundle was one of the drivers and I would have been driving my first XJ-S by then.

It was the name of the racing team. His suit corresponds to the team colors.

Ok, so it was a previous sponsor "Silk Cut", that is no longer on the car as well. I guess they just didn't have new suit yet, thus just tape over old sponsor name?
