Says a lot about your occupation, moving up to a V12 as the world is shrinking.
Hope to still see you around mate.

Which spec 12 Vantage? They're practically giving those away right now. Very good time to buy one. I like the V12 over the V8. Not a fan of checking and filling oil in the V8.

A friend recently bought a V12S dog leg manual. He just put decats and Quicksilver Exhaust on it. Sounds wicked beyond belief.

At a minimum, get the remote valve control from https://www.cccharger.co.uk/

Poor George05, I feel for him. All the Jags I have had stand idle for 4-6 weeks or more and I have never had a problem. I do use a CTEK occasionally for very extended periods and do think it is a good idea to keep the battery tip-top but I don't think it is the big deal some say it is based on my own experience. I might equally say that I would not consider owning an AM as they (allegedly) have a reputation for being skittish, expensive to run and maintain and of course there is this sticky thing you have to stir around if you want to get anywhere For all that, good luck to the OP - I'd rather have an AM than no car or even worse one of those wind-up battery thingies or even worse one with a battery and a donkey-motor! No flames please, I left my Nomex at the track

Two friends sold their AM V12's as they were plagued with electrical problems, both would drain their batteries if left standing for a mere 2 days.

One now has a mini and he other an alfa, so they've not moved up...but would imagine their bank balances are pretty healthy.

They both have new additions to their families, so perhaps would explain the sensible (?) car choices.

Good luck to you George and yes update this thread with pics and your AM journey

George might be well advised to purchase an AstonMartin-branded CTEK unit. Otherwise, he'll be able to make his own comparison regarding the electrical needs of Jaguars compared to Astons.

I saw a blurp in my Newsfeed this morning where the key to a new Aston Martin costs more than a Fiat 500.

Any kind of "exotic" car are pigs on battery drain. Ferrari, Aston, "fill in the blank". Just the way it is for whatever reason.

My wife's Lexus RX can last about three months sitting. After that, it's Jump Time.

My friend's MB 550E convertible has gone a couple of winters without starting. He bought it new, so if the battery fails, the dealer just replaces under warranty. He could care less if it starts or not, but it usually does.

I wouldn't be so confident on my Rapide starting in the winter if it was one week unplugged. Even worse on the Lotus, but I am pretty well conditioned to plug cars in if I know I am not driving for a few days.

I went almost three weeks, as there was a two week period where my road was torn up to build a new road bed.

The only time my XK has ever given me battery problems was when I needed a new battery.
