OMG what is this stuff.
I just returned from Los Angeles where the temperature was in the high nineties to come home to this. I've read some posts of some of us Northern XKR owners anxiously counting the days before we spring the leaper to life again. After today I'm totally disguised with the weather. My performance cars will not see the pavement for awhile. If you think you have bad weather check these pictures out of my driveway--my cars are going no where! Over 62 cm or 24.5 in. of snow today after 30 cm or 12 in. two days before. To make things worse there is 8 in. of ice on the top surface of my driveway, in front of my garage doors, from the winter.

DGL,
I think i told you before that if you're in L.A., you're welcome to drive my XKR coupe while here, and I'll use my older XKR convertible. At least you'd have had a chance to drive in some nice (if not too hot) weather. It doesn't look like you'll be drvining anywhere, anytime soon! Have fun shoveling.

Thanks for the offer. I would have loved to take your XKR for a drive in LA. However, I was there to do a little business and for my 11 year old daughter's March break and went down to San Diego to visit some old friends from when I use to live in San Diego. I was doing a lot of driving and wouldn't want to put many miles on your car. Although it would have been nice to ponder around Calabasas taking my daughter to the pool. I'll hit you up next time I'm in LA.
Yes, my cars are garage bound. Almost bought another 2014 GTR last month so I would have something fun to drive. You're welcome to come up and help with the shovelling. LOL. Other than the shovelling I can make your stay very comfortable. A summer visit is recommended.

<Sigh> Wish we had your troubles.... Quit stealing our winter weather!
Full scale water rationing and massive insect infestation is looming for us here in the Pacific Northwest....
Very scary to see our Olympic and Cascade range nearly devoid of snow-pack. Almost all our ski resorts have given up and shut down a month or two early.
I know we could not handle what you are getting at the lower elevations, but we are use to at least having a winter....

When I first started looking for a used XK Coupe (2010) last year, I concentrated in my local area (South Florida) where the prices were through the roof and miles were fair to heavy. I happened to notice a 2010 XK Coupe from PA. with 4,800 miles (last year). Although I knew it was impractical to buy so far away, the miles intrigued me. Long story made short....I researched the car, negotiated the price from the Mercedes Dealer and flew out, purchased it, and transported it home in an enclosed carrier. This car had never seen one day of winter! An older gentlemen owned it and health issues kept him from driving it even sparingly. XKs are not to be driven up north very often and due to this may have fewer miles and can be purchased used much more reasonably than in the warmer climates. I just wanted to share my personal experience with XKs and the cold climate.
PS. My 2010 XK just turned 8,000 miles.

Greetings from Canada; everyone knows that Canada is the land of perpetual winter. The attached photos (taken in my garden today, March 20, 2015) show what perpetual winter looks like in Victoria, British Columbia.
I have to go now...off on my daily 15 km bike ride, in shorts (really). This note is a perfect example of why other Canadians hate Victorians - but this is an active earthquake zone, so nothing is free...

Love your garden Gregory. In a couple of months my garden should return to look like it did last year. I'm worried about my koi fish. They are covered with ice and on top of that 10 feet of snow. Damn, I love the west coast. I'm looking forward to better weather. This is the winter that just doesn't want to end.
