Question Phone docking XKR

I have just bought a 2007 XKR and it will not recognise my Iphone 4S. The phone previously worked in my 2010 XF. Is there an easy fix? Would a software update do the trick, if so how does a technical moron (me) go about it?

This will sound strange but try waving the phone around in the area in front of the glove box while the it's searching for the car, or the car searching for the phone - I found my HTC wasn't found while I was holding it in my hand but if I waved it around there it paired fine.

It could be the 4S isn't compatible with the car though but I haven't got one of those phones so I can't say for sure.

Every iPhone all the way up to my current 5S has worked. What do you mean by "won't recognize"? Are you certain you are pairing it correctly? And entering the correct PIN#? Have you tried another phone?

Hi, I had a similar problem. My iPhone 4 with IOS 5 worked perfectly. After updating to IOS 6, my car, XKR 2007 convertible, didn't recognize my phone anymore. After deleting the registered iPhone 4, which didn't connect anymore, it wasn't possible to pair my iPhone again. My indy tried by changing the telephone module and bluetooth antenna. No change. Then he got advise from Jaguar to change the Touchscreen, that worked perfectly, so we didn't (would cost 1400€). Old phones or other brands didn't connect either. I bought a Jabra freeway. Ever since no problems with pairing at low cost (100€).

Good luck.

I had a play with a Samsung on my '07 XKR to see if the phone book problem was still on the latest Android phones. My iPhone 4S wouldn't auto pair after that and it took a number of attempts and around 15 minutes to get it to reregister so I would just persevere.

My phone is running IOS 8 at the moment and still syncs up OK.

I had successfully paired an iPhone 4, 4S, 5 and 5S to my 2007 XKR over the 3 years that I owned her, so it should work. I wonder if the XF and the XKR have the same Bluetooth ID name and for some reason having been connected to the newer XF is confusing it? Try going into your Bluetooth list, tell it to forget all existing connections and start fresh with the XKR.
