All done. Took about 5 hours total with removal, wrap, and install.

I was getting really tired of the wood grain so I'm happy as can be.

Default Great advice

Great advice but I must have missed one of those "Be Careful"s...

I managed to break one of the holding tabs (that insert into the metal clips) when removing the trim around the steering wheel.

Any advice how to fix/re-attach it?

I doubt one clip will make a big difference. The only thing I can think of is Super Glue. I've used this binary puddy that you mix together to fix plastic before but it won't work on a friction tab since it has to keep the same shape/size to fit in to the clip.

Hi GrayXK,
Can you please repost the pics of your carbon wrap? (Your original pics seem to be gone from this thread) It looked fantastic!
Thanks!

Default Off to the painters

Well I fixed the tabs using a super glue and 5 min Epoxy combo... funny thing was some of the other tabs had glue globs around the middle as well. Looks like these get broken during assembly as well so I don't feel so bad.

Got all the pieces out, huge thanks to Gray XK!

Sent them off to the painter today to get them done in Ebony Black (same as exterior). I'll post pics when I get them back.

Ajohnsonnefn - I was reading your post and am curious if you think the 3M wrap will cover up surface cracks in the wood veneer (will the cracks be visible beneath the wrap)?
Thanks in advance!

The wrap is pretty thick. I doubt cracks would show through.

I just ordered the Engine Spun aluminum for the middle stack - navigation section, ash tray and shifter. I will leave the glove box piece wood or wrap in piano. Just started an MBA program and time is the one luxury I don't have. If it takes 5 hours I'm thinking I may want to outsource or even have it painted?

Anyone priced getting the pieces painted or wrapped by a pro?

Gooday. I'm taking delivery of my XKR this week (I hope). It has the walnut trim which I'm not fond of, so I've already bought some piano black wrap, and some metallic black as well (which I thought might look good on the glovebox bit). Anyway, for those who have pulled off the trim, is there any trick? Do you lever it off or just use your fingers?
