I did the same thing pulling into the garage a couple of years ago. Luckily I didn't hit the door, just the rear quarter panel and the rear wheel. Make sure you have the alignment checked as it doesn't take a big hit to knock the rear wheel out. My cost was only $1800. and today you can't tell it was hit. I paid cash and it doesn't show up on carfax, although I would tell a prospective buyer about it. I feel your pain but don't worry, the pain will go away after it is fixed.
Are you sure they have to replace the door? I know you want it fixed right but I would take it to another body shop and get a second opinion.

My insurance adjuster recommended the door shell replacement as did the body shop. Aluminum is a difficult animal to repair if the damaged area is large. They claim it will all look great when finished. Rear wheel refurbishment and alignment was also written in. Wish me luck.
