Default Pitfalls and Problems with XKR-S

These beautiful machines have now depreciated enough that I am about to pull the trigger on a low mileage XKR-S.
As there are not many of them, I haven't been able to find too much information about them.
Are there any known significant issues I should be looking for during my shopping>?
Open to any thoughts!

They suffer from garage fatigue. Don't drive them often and they will have problems which will be exacerbated by driving them even less.

Mechanically there's nothing extra to worry about with an XKR-S more than an XKR. Apart from lack of use like Ranchero says...

The things I would be concerned about at the XKR-S body parts, if there is any damage to them it's going to be more expensive to fix than the equivalent part on an XKR.

Like the carbon fibre section of the front bumper, or the rear bumper diffuser in carbon fibre, they are not cheap to replace.

I've seen plenty of posts over the years on the clear coat on the carbon fiber pieces wearing off or the front splitter cracking.

Agree, they are fussy. Been there.
They can be re-cleared, wet sanded and then covered completely with 3M and then they are fine unless you hit something... which happens if you're not careful

47000 kms on mine

Use my car daily, no signs of any carbon damage at all.

I think so. The RS is just that extra special in looks and place in history.

IMHO it really depends on what price you pay for it. When they were newer and going for $20-30K more than an "XKR" I do not believe it was worth it. However, now that the price difference is more like a $10-15K premium for an "XKR-S" it may be worth it, for what I personally consider to be about a 10% increase in all-round performance/upgrades/looks etc. I myself would not buy it unless the price was no more than 10% higher for a comparable XKR.

I'm about to take delivery of a garage-kept 2013 XKR-S with 18k miles. Does the 3M film have UV resistance? I might have that done.
