Portable Audio Interface and iPod Nano 6G
Am I understanding this correctly, that a new, as in 2016 Ipod Nano will not work with a 2013 XKR? I have the correct panel and cable, but as i follow this thread I'm lead to believe software upgrades/changes nullifies compatibility.
Maybe someone with first hand knowledge could set me straight. Thanks.

Since you have the OEM Jaguar cable, I suggest that you go to your local Apple Store and ask a salesman to test the new 2016 iPod Nano and the Lightning adapter to see if it works with your car. That way you'll know for sure.
I have a 2009 XKR which I had a similar problem as the car was not capable of using the newer technology. What I found out was that if I used any memory stick up to 8G and I bought an older issue Ipod3 these work perfectly fine. Anything with a larger memory does not appear to work in my 2009 model. Hope this helps.
