Preowned 2007 XK Convertible -- good idea?
Hi everyone. I'm new to the boards and I am hoping that some of you experienced Jag owners might be able to give me some advice. I am looking to get rid of my 2007 BMW 335i which I got brand new and which has been a total lemon, and get into a Jag. However, considering the price difference I am looking at a preowned 2007 XK convertible instead of a new one.
Based upon what I've been reading here, I'm concerned that I might run into some of the same problems that I have had with my BMW and which I want to avoid, particularly electrical issues. Does anyone have any opinions? Have any of you had problems with your 2007 XK?
I am also concerned that a preowned car will require me to spend money replacing parts, such as suspension components, etc., that I might not otherwise have to with a new car because the parts are simply older. These items, of course, are not part of the warranty if they need to be replaced simply because they have worn out, as opposed to having been defective. Any thoughts?
Thanks for your help, Jordan
P.S. If anyone is interested, here is a link to my lemon post from some time ago on the BMW boards. At the end, BMW wouldn't do anything and I am planning on filing suit.

I just picked up my 2007 XK Convertible about 2 months ago with 26K miles and love it - as with you, the price point of a new one at ~$90K compared to a the pre-owned ones going for the $40s, it's a hard deal to pass up. I think it's a fair point about certain parts being closer to their replacement age, but then again, if all car purchases were made only on logical reasoning the whole world would be driving Honda Accords or something, right?
As MDPD23 already suggested, with the Jaguar certification the warranty is extended to 100K miles and 6 years. So if you have a problem, at least they'll take care of it for free.

Hi I have owned my 07 XKK for a little over three years now. It is an awesome car. My advice:
1. Stretch your budget and get an XKR not an XK the difference is worth the money.
2. Go for an 08 if you can find it... all of the little quality problems were fixed after the first year of mfg.
3. One of the most annoying problems with my car was the antenna made a whistling noise at about 55mph+. Jag said "...it is what it is..." and never would fix it. The antenna design was changed in 08 along with a few other little things.
4. Once you have bought it arrange for it to be chipped and have the supercharger pulley upgraded. These two small mods (which are inexpensive) will give you an additional 90 bhp giving the XKR about 510 bhp.
I used to be a BMW driver before I changed to Jag. I have owned 3 now and don't regret purchasing any of them.
