Default Purchased an XKR today!

I've been seriously looking for an XKR convertible and today purchased a 2010 in Liquid Silver, on charcoal interior, with dark oak trim, black canvas, heated windscreen and 20" wheels. It has about 9000 miles on it and is in pristine condition. It was a Jaguar Canada corporate car that was then sold to the dealer and then to us. It's a late 2010 build, with the 4 year warranty starting Feb '11, so there's lots of coverage left which was important to me.

My last Jag, and first car, was a 1970 XKE, which I adored for 8 years, but sold when starting a family. We're looking forward to making more great memories in it's most recent spiritual successor. It will share the garage with our '94 Supra twin turbo and '93 MR2 turbo that I've enjoyed using in motorsports over the last 10 years. I'll be curious to test it's performance attributes around Mosport International Raceway, but mostly looking forward to relaxed and effortless open air motoring along our country roads.

I've found these forums to be very helpful in making this purchase decision, and would like to thank all those who have offered their help...it is sincerely appreciated.

Bruce

(Evil Laugh) Mwa ha ha! You succumbed!

(Evil Grin) Welcome!

I just came from the garage staring at mine. For no particular reason.

Congratulations!! I have the same car (same color) just a 2011 model and I love mine.

Every day that I own it I learn to love it more and more. It has such interesting lines and classic styling - it's really a head-turner. Please post more details once your car has been delivered. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed mine the last month and a half!

Cheers!!

Sandy

Thanks again. The deep joy of ownership is so strongly expressed in this forum that it helps prospective buyers feel more confident in trying a marque that went through a tough period. The beauty of the XK's design is truly stunning, it's performance spectacular, and it's a contemporary classic if ever there was one. It's a collectible that will be broadly appreciated for decades.

I've read comparisons of it to the Maserati Gran Turismo and various Aston's, all of which I considered as well, but the bottom line is how it makes you feel. The best of the bunch is the one you feel is the most desirable thing ever...the one you have to have. The one that you won't second guess your decision if it should need a costly repair, or breaks down on the side of the highway. The one you can thoroughly enjoy even if you seldom drive it.

That happened for me the first time I stood beside one, parked along side the GTS, Vantage, DB9 and DBS at a dealer for those in Naples, Florida in April. Months of analysis of those, and more practical choices including the XFR were temporary distractions that served to reinforce my initial intoxication with the XKR. The more I research others the more I wanted the XKR. It stirs all the same emotions that my XKE did...and I think my wife is even more excited about the purchase than I am. She knew all she needed to when she saw it at the dealership yesterday...that was the one for us...we'll take it!!!

Bruce
