Default Quirky little things

So my 13 year old, 201,000 mile XKR has been exhibiting some unusual, but welcome behavior over the last couple of weeks. First off, a couple of weeks ago, I noticed for the first time since almost when I bought the car in 2013, I noticed that I did not get the yellow dash warning saying "Cruise Control Not Available" when I first start the car. I didn't miss it since I never use cruise control but when I didn't see the warning I tried using it just to see if it actually worked. Lo and behold it worked for the first time in 10 years; And I have no idea why. A second non-functional item also sprung back to life on its own. I notice about 4 or 5 years ago that after locking my car with the key fob and hearing the beep that the alarm was set, you could still open the car doors without a key fob by just pulling on the door handle. The car would never actually be locked although the car alarm would arm and go off if you opened the door without the fob. Additionally, from the driver's seat you could neither lock nor unlock the passenger door by pulling or pushing on the interior latch/handle. Nothing would happen. All of a sudden, about 3 days ago, the latch started operating properly, I could lock and unlock the passenger door from operating the latch on the driver's side. I haven't tested whether or not the car locks now yet, but I'm going to bet that now that the latch works, the lock will as well. I have no idea why these two things have after years in each case, started to work. Although I had brake pads replaced as well as an evap pump replacement, neither the door latch nor the cruise control were touched. I guess the car just decided to reward me for passing 200,000 miles last week. Just a weird coincidence.

You must have been a good boy, so the mythical ‘Car Fairy’ (distant cousin of the Tooth Fairy) took your old car, and left a shiny new one in your garage.

Ralph,
Don't worry, this morning a decent sized coolant leak and a low coolant warning light came on, so it's back to acting like a juvenile delinquent.
