Default Rattle in the Door Speaker / Taking off the Speaker Cover

I have a rattle in the speaker in my door. Is there a way to take of the speaker cover/grill without taking off the entire door card? Before doing a lot of work, I was hoping to take off the speaker cover and take a peek inside to see what is causing the rattle. The instructions to take off the door card includes popping off the tweeter cover. I have already gone through this and the tweeter cover is very brittle. Popping it off could be problematic.

Thanks,

Ken

short answer no. You could however undo partway from the lower half and put a scope in there.

While on this theme... I touched the door speaker grill with my toe... in -25 weather. It’s cracked now.
anyony have an idea about a replacement? In the ol’ days, that was easy. I’m finding it difficult to locate a metal mesh grill.

I always use my heatgun to gently warm any old plastic parts before I try to work with them. Otherwise I have found that they are brittle when a certain age and if they are cold they tend to snap. Warming them seems to help avoid this.

Amazon has quite a few metal grill covers from 4 to 8 inches.
or maybe go talk to a car stereo shop to see what they have lying around. (Not sure it would be as simple as that, but I know most my speaker upgrades used the existing covers in the cars, so the grills that came with them never got used.)

I also found several sellers of perforated metal sheets (such as McNichols.com) that could allow some custom fabrication.

I have some spare Bowers & Wilkins speaker grilles, with the chrome surround.
