On January 19th 2025 I checked fuel prices specifically to remember, took a picture of the average on that day, and that average price was $1.79-9
What on EARTH could have been so catastrophic on the following day that prices on everything, especially fuel, skyrocketed in to space???? The nearest grocery store price is now $4.34-9

I guess it's a form of greed that provides me with the ability to pay $5.15 per gallon.

£7.14 ($9.42) per gallon for unleaded and £8.64 ($11.39) per gallon for diesel average in UK. And that's not the premium petrol or diesel, just the cheap E10

When I typed that last night, I was still at work (family owned restaurant) and had been there for nearly 12 hours , per usual. Oil companies and governments will make their decisions, conscience not withstanding, without ever consulting me, and vice versa.

Manipulating markets for profit first is an issue that upsets me.

That's the problem with getting older. We can smell it much earlier. I forgot the Latin phrase for who benefits.

The instant supplies are projected to rise, prices rise. When supplies actually lower, it still takes months for prices to lower, but not even down to where they would realign with costs. So yeah, greed wins again.

So, which among us is willing to divest any and all holdings we have in these evil oil companies? Not just individual stocks, purge them from any 401, Roth, etc.
Not me.

Sorry, this is not the proper forum to discuss this.
I'm out before I express my deep feelings and offend.

All they need is a reason. Real or imagined. A bomb drops, price jumps $2 instantly. And it ain't coming back down, its gonna take a long time (never) to recover from all the damage done, you know.

More like, once a certain profit level is achieved, its hard to go back, you know.
